U.S. Hardware Industry Sees Steady Growth, Green Building Emerges as a Trend

May 23, 2015, Chicago—After several years of economic recovery, the U.S. hardware industry is experiencing steady growth, driven by continued recovery in the construction sector and rising consumer demand for eco-friendly materials.

In particular, there has been an increase in the demand for green hardware products within the green building sector. More construction projects are opting for energy-efficient, sustainable hardware materials, which not only meet environmental standards but also reduce long-term maintenance costs. LEED-certified hardware products are becoming increasingly important in the market.

“Green building not only helps owners save on energy and water usage, but it also improves the comfort and value of the building,” said Peter Johnson, President of the Hardware Manufacturers Association (HMA).
